Born in Rome in 1992, she started playing the drums at the age of fourteen.

Upon completing her compulsory education, she moved to the Netherlands and was admitted to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she graduated in 2018 with a score of 8/10. During her time in the Dutch capital, she had the opportunity to study and collaborate with renowned musicians such as Ernst Glerum, Michael Moore, and Mary Oliver (ICP Orchestra), Reinier Baas and Joris Roelofs, as well as Martijn Vink and Marcel Serierse (Metropole Orchestra), deepening her exploration of improvised music and jazz. She performed at major venues including the Blue Note Amsterdam and De Kring, alongside artists like Reinier Baas, Teis Semey, Francesca Tandoi, Fuensanta Mendez, and many others.

In 2021, she earned her Master’s degree in Jazz Drums and Percussion from the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome with top honors (110 cum laude), working under the guidance of music journalist and critic Ernesto Assante for her thesis.

In 2019, she launched a trio project with dancers Beatrice Savelloni and Sara Pastacaldi, performing a solo drums and dance piece at Teatro Orione in Rome.

Her deep passion for composition led her, in 2022, to create her first original project, Outlines, alongside two exceptional musicians: Igor Legari on double bass and Andrea Saffirio on piano and synthesizers. The trio immediately established a strong artistic and personal synergy, making Outlines an ever-evolving project.

In its very first year, Outlines performed across renowned Roman festivals—including Quadraro in Jazz, JazzOut, and Jazz all’Inferno (featuring guest artist Michele Tino on alto sax)—as well as local clubs like Boogie Club and MetroCore, and major events such as Sapri Jazz Waves, Cori Jazz Festival, and the historic Atina Jazz.

In 2023, she joined the collective quartet Brouahah (alongside pianist Enrico Zanisi, guitarist Simone Sansonetti, and double bassist Alessandro Bintzios), the newly formed trio Descansate Niño (led by guitarist Giacomo Ancillotto, with Marco Zenini on electric bass), and Brazilian saxophonist Renato Ferreira‘s quintet (featuring Luca Venitucci on accordion, Gabriele Pagliano on double bass, and Giulia Cianca on vocals).

In July 2023, performing alongside Giulia Cianca and Mario Cianca, she won First Prize at the Gianni Lenoci International Competition. Following this victory, the Giulia Cianca Trio recorded its debut album, Se Otto Ore, in November 2023 under the Lydian Records label.

In 2024, she toured Italy with Giacomo Ancillotto’s trio, Descansate Niño, performing at prestigious venues and festivals such as Jazz All’Aquila, Sarteano Jazz&Blues, Isole che Parlano, JazzMi, Casa del Jazz, Pinocchio Jazz Club, and Jazz Club Ferrara (Torrione). That same year, the trio recorded its debut self-titled album for Folderol Records.

In 2025, she founded Xenia, a new project featuring her original compositions, alongside Federico Pascucci on tenor sax and clarinet, Andrea Biondi on vibraphone, and Marco Zenini on electric bass. The quartet performed at venues and events such as the Garbatella Jazz Festival and NOF in Florence.

That same year, she joined the Balkan Lab Orkestra, performing at the famous Ragoutsaria Festival in Greek Macedonia. Through this collaboration, she immersed herself in Serbian, Macedonian, Turkish, Greek, and Romani musical traditions.

In 2026, alongside fellow musician Laura Veltri, she co-founded the Composers’ Collective Rome—a Roman collective bringing together over 40 musicians and composers from diverse genres and musical backgrounds into a uniquely identified orchestra, where she currently serves as coordinator.

Also in 2026, she served as an artist-in-residence at the Sibiu Jazz Festival in Romania, performing three concerts alongside saxophonist Primo Salvati.
